Inspired by the random appearance of old fieldstone walls along with the very precise and strategic manner in which they are constructed, Richard built this Dry Bar by by meticulously stacking salvaged Cherry piece by individual piece, layer upon layer, controlling the wall’s profile while randomly varying the depth of each piece of wood. The resulting staggered facade catches shadows and light on it’s terraced surfaces standing in stark contrast to the perfectly honed and smooth interior surfaces.
This completed cabinet has a stance and feel similar to the large wooden television cabinets from the 1950’s, while the steel capped top and the fixed steel shelves offer something reminiscent of vintage ice boxes. Richard’s custom steel base utilizes angle iron creating a fresh look for the hairpin leg.
Although this particular piece is one-of-a-kind, Richard’s Signature STACKED process is applicable to any shape, any function, any scale, and any material upon request.
